Madrid, Spain - 21 Aug 2018 - Totte announced today that its professional photographer reservation service has been selected to take part and exhibit as an ALPHA Startup at the Web Summit | Lisbon 2018.
Billed as “the best technology conference on the planet”, Web Summit brings together over 70,000 attendees from 170 countries including Fortune 500 companies, groundbreaking startups and world-class speakers to Lisbon.
Each year, the Web Summit team reviews applications from early stage startups and invites those who demonstrate promising market validation to the ALPHA Startup Programme. In 2016, out of 86,428 applicants, 3,055 startups attended the events.
“It’s an awesome honour to join this year’s Web Summit as an ALPHA startup. We’re already excited to meet the participants - all innovators, enthusiasts and leaders in their respective fields - with whom I'm sure we'll form invaluable bonds,” said Yoshi Matsushita, Founder of Totte.
‘Totte’ actually means “Can you take (a photo)” in Japanese and the idea first came when I realized after a holiday with my partner to Scotland & Spain from Japan that I’d taken many photos but there were little that did justice to the places nor to the vibe - and of course, none in which we’re ‘together’,
“I think this library of mediocre photos is a long overdue post-holiday fail but what motivated us to start a “local + pro” photography service was when I realized the gap between the amount of time I spent (or wasted, rather) anticipating as an amateur photographer to have to capture some magical spark versus the exorbitant prices of hiring a pro photographer,” added Matsushita.
Utilizing Spain’s ‘Entrepreneurs Law’ as well as having been selected as an official event for Spain & Japan’s 150th Diplomatic Anniversary Year, Totte incorporated in Madrid and joined Spain’s vibrant Travel startup ecosystem which has produced remarkable exits in recent years.
“We’re excited to start our European adventure from Spain - a leader in the Travel and Tourism sector - as reflected even in the short time since our pre-launch on just how positively Totte’s idea has been received by Turespaña’s regional office in Japan as well as having been invited to leading technology conferences such as Madrid’s South Summit and the Everis Awards.
